If the Danish Prime Minister apologises to ONE person for the action of the cartoonist's depiction of Mohammed, I will burn the Danish Embassy. (Not seriously, don't call the police!)
I mean, if it means anything, your taboo is not my taboo.
Allan Silberbrandt, a Danish T.V. reporter stated tonight, "It is understood that in a free society, at times you will be offended and have your values challenged."
I don't know, when this all took place, I guess the pacifist in me sympathised with Islam and I did tsk-tsk the Dånsks for being so bold. However, the more I think about it, it just upsets me that such a large portion of the world, namely the Middle East, has to act so irrationally and violently...ironically, these people resenting the depiction of the Prophet with a bomb affixed to his head are those that burn embassies and coast planes into skyscrapers. Don't get me wrong, I am just as quick to criticise the USA when I think she needs to step down from her throne...but the peoples that are offended should understand and in some way respect what it means to live in a liberal democracy, such as the one Europe has and the United States has(n't quite) achieved. Generally:
1. Hindus did not burn Burger Kings after seeing that (FABULOUS) commercial during the Super Bowl.
2. Gays do not actively attack married heterosexuals or Justices of the Peace.
3. Christians usually suck it up when Jesus is depicted by rappers, *cough* Kanye *cough* or when I openly say, "Goddamnit!"
4. Followers of Kabbalah did not shit bricks when Britney Spears tied on her red string bracelet.
I absolutely love today's politics...riots, Hillary for President (cross-fingers, GO HILLARY!), it just doesn't get more exciting.
